GRATITUDE for.. SALT, Downpours, and Downed Trees

For TONIGHT…my loves…I am grateful for…

  1. SALT. Especially of the “off shore” variety. As it drifts off of incessant, rushing, wildly unmanageable crashing ocean waves.  And while it initally enters your PHYSICAL self..it also permeates..

your SOUL.

It soothes…

heals..

rejuvenates…

REMINDS you…that you …

HAVE…

LIFE

And it is worth living…

Holden Beach, NC.

2. TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS

Which descend upon you “mid-pedal”.  And your close to tears as the rain pounds down on your unprepared A$$ ‘cuz you thought you could “beat the storm”. The water streams down your neck, pools in your shoes, and as tough as you might “appear” ….you absolutely HATE HATE HATE GETTING YOUR FEET WET!!!

But then… you suddenly remember..what it was like to once ride …wild..wet..dirty..

FREE.

And even though you’ve returned to your destination and can finally embark on drier conditions indoors…

you elect to pedal on past anyways.

Enjoying the rain as it continues to pound down neck,

pool in your shoes,

and washes away your sweat, angst, tears..and..

THAT FEAR…

to ride…

DIRTY,

WET,

WILD, AND…

F.R.E.E.

Denver, CO, a million years ago, when I could ride dirty, wild and FREE…

3. DOWNED TREES.

Because they are gone..DONES-O…

FINITO.

COMPLETELY UPROOTED.

Everything they have grown and thrived on has been completely ripped out from below.

There is NO HOPE..

We…ARE…

DEAD.

But perhaps..

PERHAPS..

Even an uprooted tree…

Can reinvent itself…find a NEW purpose…and new reason to ride on…despite the dirt, rain, or fear.

So here’s hoping that YOU TOO will:

  1. Breath in some salty air…so get yo’self to the ocean STAT!!
  2. RIDE…the way you once did, in whatever capacity that means to you. So that you are reminded what it is to be….dirty, wet, wild, and most importantly…
    FREE.
  3. Allow yourself the FREEDOM…to UPROOT ….and REINVENT yourself. Its NEVER NEVER NEVER too late to discover …a NEW PURPOSE.
Discovered during a much needed fat tire spin through Umstead State Park, Raleigh, NC.

Until next time my loves…

  1. Love the bike ride through the storm. Sometimes it feels so good to do the very thing that starts out uncomfortable and scary. Isn’t that tree great? We have pictures to. It’s nice to happen upon that surprise work of art on a walk. I am still not getting email notifications of your posts! 😡 I saw this on Twitter. I’m going to try and unsubscribe and subscribe again. Again. Any idea what the glitch might be?
