Anchor UP

Because even a fierce and stormy day at the ocean

Is STILL …a day at the ocean.

There cannot be sunshine all the time.

And the best part about my stormy day at the ocean…

Is that I had that WHOLE DAMN THING…EVERY INCH I COULD SEE

All to MYSELF.

Not a soul in sight.

And I loved how rough the water was.  Waves sneering at me, trying to intimidate me with their height, force, and swift succession, because there were no breaks in between.

I sneered back and dove right in.

It felt magnificent to be tossed about and rolled around, every ounce of my body moving and swimming and being smacked by the salt water.

It felt magnificent because there was no fear.  Every knock down was followed by a swift bounce up, and a headfirst dive right back into the next wave.

I was being forced down the shoreline at a quick pace, without trepidation.

I knew I had the strength and confidence to get back to shore.

I skipped and danced and spun around in those waves as if it was my first time in the ocean.

Because it almost felt like it was.

Finally able to revel in a stormy sea, knowing I would get plummeted continuously, and knowing I had the fortitude to pull myself back up…

EVERY.SINGLE.TIME.

Surfers know this well too.  They know exactly how to ride with the current, not against it.

Because when you fight the current, you drown.  You can bring the fear in with you, but you cannot let it take the lead.

My favorite piece of advice from my father, a seasoned fishermen, is to ANCHOR UP.

And perhaps this is what I have finally learned to do, to ANCHOR UP, and ride those stormy waves, because I know how to get back to shore…

But only after I’m done dancing 😉

RIDE EM’ folks, RIDE THOSE “BLEEPING” WAVES.

DO NOT LET that fear anchor you,

DO NOT fight that current,

…..because you have no idea the thrill you will enjoy when you ride it.

Until next time my loves….
