Knock yourself out… ;)

Mountain biking….is just like life.  Riding is mind over matter – your fat tires  will roll over anything, but its getting your MIND to roll over it that’s the real challenge. Sometimes you fear and will find any way around an obstacle.  Sometimes you find the courage to just roll right over it and you realize…..huh…? That really was not that bad after all.

There are times, you have a great ride, when you expected it to be horrible.  And then there are times you have a horrible ride when all the signs said it would be fantastic.

And then, there are times, when you’re cruisin’ along thinking all is well and….

SLAM!!

Yer flat on your face…..and don’t know what the hell just happened.

And just like in life, sometimes you crash SO.DAMN.HARD… that time actually STANDS STILL.

And for a split second, you have to make sure you can still BREATHE……

And once you have ascertained your survival…you make sure you can still MOVE……

Eyes open…

Sit up slowly…

BREATHE.

Does everything still work?

BREATHE.

Can I get up and walk away from this one?

BREATHE.

Where does it hurt the most?

BREATHE.

Is there any blood?

BREATHE.

Will this hurt for a long time?

BREATHE.

Will I be able to get myself off this damn trail?

BREATHE.

My riding buddies aren’t laughing so this one must have been really bad….

JUST.BREATHE.

And some of us may spend the rest of our lives recovering from these injuries….

Oh we will ride again,

however, our method is forever changed.

And perhaps everything will still be OK,

as long as we can remember to …

JUST.BREATHE.

RIDE on my friends…in whatever way that means to you…

Until next time my loves.
