Tonight..my beloveds..I am MOST Grateful for
Ice Hockey. About a million years ago, when I was living alone in my dorm during a summer semester, and left to my own resolve to study, one of the few channels I could get on my lil 27in TV was the sports channel. And for some reason, ice hockey was playing at the time. I would play the hockey games in the background for some “white noise” while I studied in my lonesome. The sound of the skates as they slice the ice, the speed as they zip so effortlessly over frozen water, the sound of the puck as it was hammered across the arena, the thrill of the announcer.
But even more magnificent…was the pleasure of GOING to a game!! The banging of the glass during a fight, the ROAR of the crowd, the sirens, the horns, the lights when a goal is scored…
This has been the “background noise ” of my life for QUITE.SOME.TIME. And it will remain as such, as just sight of a game, the sound of a “slicing of the ice” or the thrill of the announcer, is enough…to soothe… and lull me into …
RELAXATION :)..
but for just a min.. π
CASH. “Dolla bills y’all!”
I feel it is the equivalent of the hardcover book. Everything is electronic anymore. But if you actually have a “hard-copy” in your HANDS…perhaps you are more appreciative of it. Before the credit card, there was “GASP* only cold, hard CASH. And when it was gone..IT.WAS.GONE. And perhaps, if that was all I had anymore, then maybe I would be much more appreciative of its ..existence.
SOLITUDE. As I have discovered tonight, that this is different..than LONELINESS…

SOLITUDE = ownership, command, PRIDE, in your ..ahem…loneliness π
But also a cue that I/you/WE should REJOICE in our alone time. As this is when we can realize, and APPRECIATE, our MOST TRUE SELVES.
And perhaps..
PERHAPS…
We ain’t so bad to hang out with after all… π
So here’s hoping that you too…will find:
- Your version of “white noise”
- An appreciation of a “hard copy”
- And a celebration in the solitude of ..YO’ SELF!!!

Until next time my loves…
I’ve used sports for white noise too. We’re such resourceful people. Amen on solitude. I love mine. That and a dollar will find you fishing good thoughts. Love to fish, but it’s been years.
